This is the third dragon you will encounter in Guild Wars 2.
The Claw of Jormag pop every 2h45 and can be found in the lv70-80 Frostgorge Sound Zone, north of the Earthshake waypoint.
A pre-event will begin in 4 locations: Just destroy the Crystals and every trash mobs around it. Another pre-event will then start with only one Crystal to destroy.
The Claw will follow 45 seconds after the last crystal is destroyed.
To get a gold medal, get yourself a Charzooka, or get some bombs to destroy the ice-wall. Hit the claw of Jormag whenever the ice-wall is destroyed.
The phase 2 will begin at 45% of his life. Pretty much the same fight anyway: Hit the claw when possible, and the rest of the time just attack the ice-block around you.
Truth be told, you really should not try to farm this dragon, it takes way too long to kill it, the ratio time/gold isn’t really that interesting.
Following yesterday post, rather than buying your master’s salvage kits for gold or karma, let’s create a Mystic salvage kit with 250 charges. For this formulan you’ll need:

- 1 fine salvage kit (full stack of 25)
- 1 Journeyman’s salvage kit (full stack of 25)
- 1 Master’s salvage kit (full stack of 25)
- 3 mystic forge stones
You can either buy the mystic forge stones with gems (250 for 5 stones) or be lucky and get some through the chest in the daily achievement.
Combine everything in the Mystic forge and you’ll get a Mystic Salvage kit with 250 uses. Mystic salvage kit have the exact same stats as a Master’s salvage kit: 80% upgrades and 25% rarer materials.
Let’s talk a little about when you should use your salvage kit on an item.
The only way to get glob of ectoplasm is by salvaging a lv70+ item of rare (yellow) or exotic (orange) quality. You can get between 0-3 globs of ectoplasm by item independent of the level.
Example: I got 3 globs on a lv71 exotic weapon.

So every-time you loot an item eligible, check on the TP for the price you can get of it and think about it.
Yesterday I got a rare lv72 weapon, I could have sold it for 18 silver, but I used a master’s salvage kit and got 2 globs and the rune. Could have sold the 2 globs for 40 silver and the rune for 15 silver. I personally keep my globs of ectoplasm to craft exotic armor to sell on the TP, but it’s your call!
Did you know there is one vendor in Lion’s arch, who sells every kind of salvage kits and gathering tools for karma ?

You can find it here, near the weaponsmith station:
Yes no more spending of your hard earned gold! Just spend all those karma points!
Personally I’m already in full exotic and I don’t care about crafting a Legendary weapon with the same stats as my exotic greatsword, so I just don’t need karma points but if you are farming karma points for exotic armor or legendary items, there is another way to get a master Salve kit for less gold: crafting a 250 mystic salvage kit, and this will be our next post!
So let’s say, like me, you’re spending a lot of time in Orr killing Risens, and you get tons of piles of incandescent dust, what could you do with it ?
Easy! Transmute them into piles of Crystalline Dust (tier6), remember you’ll need for transmuting mithril ore to orichalcum ore.
For this mystic forge recipe you’ll need:
250 piles of incandescent dust, 1 pile of Crystalline Dust, 5 Philosopher’s stones and 5 Crystals.
- You can get 10 philosopher’s stones from Miyani for 1 skill point.
- You can get 5 Crystals from Miyani for 3 skill points.
You can get between 10 and 50 piles of Crystalline Dust with this formula.
I found this underwater farming spot while doing a DE, every Undersea Ice Wurm I was killing was giving me powerful Venom sac or Potent venom sac, and sometime large fang and vicious fang too. It’s in Frostgorge sound near the slough of despond waypoint, Point of Interest: Iron horse mines.
Just go there and kill everything, the wurms do almost no damages, still I recommend you to have a good underwater weapon so you can kill them faster, ’cause they repop fast! And like always think about your magic find food buff, and thing about buying yourself some armor with magic find, runes with magic find, trinkets with magic find, the more the merrier!
I don’t know if you’ve checked but orichalcum ore cost quite a lot in trading post, around 3 silver each. And farming nodes in the 70/80 zones is not really easy, but getting mithril ore is another story, I make tons and tons of mithril everyday without even trying!
So you got two possibilities:
1/ Sell your mithril on the trading post.
2/ Transmute your mithril ore into orichalcum ore using the mystic forge, in Lion’s Arch.
To do this you’ll need: 250 mithril ore, 1 orichalcum ore, 5 Philosopher’s stones and 5 pile of Crystalline Dust.
You can get 10 philosopher’s stones from Miyani for 1 skill point.
You can loot pile of crystalline dust on ghosts and risens in Orr or buy it from the TP.
You can get between 10 and 50 orichalcum ore with this formula. You can then sell the orchalcum on the TP or craft orichalcum ingots if you can and sell them for a little more.
Making gold by selling unidentified dyes have been one of my first post and is still important if you are low level, but what if you are level 80 and already with a lot of gold? Maybe it’s time to push it to the next level!
Rare black dyes sell for more than 3 gold pieces on the trading post!
You’ll need to be a master cook 400/400 to try this, but almost all of the early lv80 used cooking to push the last levels and already are, and if you’re not, maybe it’s time to have some fun cooking some nice food, remember the magic find buff some food gave you is really important in farming.
So what you want is to craft unidentified gray dye (rare), for this you’ll need:
- 25 Walnuts (you can find them almost everywhere and cost nothing on the trading post.
- 100 Black beans (you can buy them in bulk from the karma vendor Field Medic Leius west of Nebo Terrace in Gendarran Fields, for 37 Karma)
- 25 Coriander Seed (The real problem)
- Orrian Truffle (found everywhere in Orr, cost nothing in the TP)
Let’s talk about the Coriander Seed, you can either buy them on the trading post (for a lot of silver) or farm it. You’ll find Coriander Seed by harvesting Mature Herbs in Blazeridge Steppes, Bloodtide Coast or Iron Marches. The only little problem is you can find 8 different ingredients in mature herbs, so it’s a matter of luck.
So let’s say you have all the needed ingredients, and you craft your rare unidentified gray dye, now is the time to take the most important decision. Sell it like this for more than 1 gold, or try your luck and open it. You can also get blue or green level with this one. If you are here for sure gold, just sell it unopened, if you’re a gambler well have fun and maybe you’ll get a rare black dye like the Abyss dye or Midnight Ice dye, and sell it for more than 4 gold pieces!
This a cool farming spot in Gandarran fields, a lv25-35 zone.
Go near the Applenook Hamlet waypoint and begin in the forest killing fruit bats, then go to the beach and kill river drakes then follow the shore and kill ridgeback skales.
The fruit bats and skales will drop a lot of vials of thin blood. The drakes should drop some small scales and small claws.
Go and repeat again. Don’t forget to always have a food buff adding magic find, like a peach tart! Buy them at the trading post if you’re not a cook!
I found a pretty interesting website today, named Guild Wars 2 Guide. The website looks a little amateurish, but the content is well written. You’ll find everything you need for leveling a crafting discipline, detailed informations and totally free. The cooking guide could be considered outdated since it still talks about karma vendors for some ingredients, but if you buy those ingredients on the trading post the guide still works!
You can find the links below for every discipline. Don’t forget that gaining experience from crafting is a really good way to gain levels in Guild Wars 2! I know crafting isn’t the best way to make gold, but leveling to 80 really fast by using crafting disciplines can help you making more gold!
